Scene Versions

Some pieces of your writing need alternatives before you know which take is right. Versions let you do that.

Branching a version

From any piece of text in a Beat in the Write Workspace, look at the two buttons available in the sidebar:

• Duplicate branches a new version starting from what’s already on the page, so you don’t retype shared setup.
• Start Fresh begins a version with nothing in it, for when the two takes shouldn’t share any text.

Comparing and switching

Pull up two versions side by side to see where they diverge, or switch the active version once you’ve decided which one’s staying. Delete a version you’ve ruled out.

What “active” affects

Only the active version of a Beat counts toward scene and dialogue numbering, and only the active version exports. The alternates sit there unnumbered and unexported until you make one of them active.
